Topic: Securing the Data Center Cloud
Organizations face ever-increasing threats from viruses, worms, and malicious intrusions that can do considerable harm to the information technology infrastructure that supports their business-critical functions. In the past, organizations have focused on their network perimeter to prevent these threats from entering the network, primarily from the Internet. While this remains a valid and essential approach, security administrators realize that the majority of threats originate within their networks from endpoint devices such as personal computers, PDAs, and smart phones. In today’s highly mobile and wireless computing world, it is increasingly likely that endpoint devices will enter an organization’s computing environment infected with a virus or worm capable of causing significant harm to enterprise networks and systemsundefinedespecially those originating from unknown devices from outside consultants or guests.
